|Monica Mesa ~ Monica is a Bhakti (devotional) Yogini, and teaches Prana Vinyasa Flow, cultivated by Shiva Rea and the Global Vinyasa Collective. She is an assistant and teacher trainer facilitating the Prana Flow 200 Teacher Training Program in Shiva Rea’s Samudra Global School of Living Yoga in Crested Butte, U.S., and internationally. She is the founder and creative director of Yoga for the Peaceful Studio and Yoga Rocks the Butte Winter Fest in Crested Butte, Colorado. A mother of three sons living in the mountains, Monica is also a soul surfer and teaches surf retreats in Colombia, Mexico, and Costa Rica. Classes are imbued with music, sacred ritual, celebration, and movement alchemy to honor all the rhythms of living, loving, and serving life. Her teaching is also influenced by her studies in Vajrayana Buddhism with Lama Tsultrim Allione, and spreading the message of her Guru, Neem Karoli Baba: “Love everyone, serve everyone, remember God.”|
|Juliet Stillman ~ Juliet Stillman started practicing yoga in New York City in the 1990s. After she moved to Crested Butte in 2001, she was soon lucky enough to live across the street from Monica Mesa who was teaching small, intimate classes in her home. Two wonderful relationships began for her, one with Monica and one with yoga. In 2007 she started teaching in Yoga for The Peaceful’s tiny studio when it first opened, a meditative, slow flow class on Sunday mornings, which she continues to teach today. In 2011 she earned her 200-hour yoga teacher training certificate through Inner Power Yoga. Besides asana, Juliet embodies a daily practice of deep gratitude and amazement for her many blessings, which include her loved ones, pets and the beauty of this amazing mountain town.|
|Jackie Just ~ Jackie moved to Crested Butte from the East Coast for the winter of 2010, quickly fell in love with Crested Butte and decided to stay. She began practicing yoga in high school and has maintained a personal practice throughout the years, and completed the 200 Hour Prana Vinyasa teacher training with Monica in 2013. Jackie believes that yoga is the perfect “counter-pose” to the many outdoor activities that she loves: skiing, surfing, mountain biking and rock climbing. She started teaching at Yoga For The Peaceful in the Fall of 2013 and is currently teaching three classes a week, each with a different focus. Prana Vinyasa on Thursday evenings is a sweet and gentle candle lit practice open to all levels. Friday’s Apres Ski yoga class focuses on stretching and relaxing the muscles we use while skiing and riding and is a great way to unwind after a long day on the hill, and Saturday morning’s all-levels Prana Vinyasa class is the perfect way to wake up and start your weekend! Jackie also assists the 200 Hour Prana Vinyasa Teacher Training in Crested Butte and is the manager of Yoga For The Peaceful.|
|Carin Lockhart ~ Carin is a Colorado native that began her yogic journey over ten years ago. The beautiful, holistic pull of yoga drew her to complete her teacher training in 2011 and then to leave the corporate world to teach fulltime and pursue her advanced certification in 2013. Carin’s passion is creating a space for other yogis to deepen their practice with classes that integrate yogic teachings, nurturing physical poses and lots of loving energy. Teaching classes ranging from yoga basics, vinyasa flow, restorative, yoga nidra and senior chair yoga, Carin enjoys working with all kinds of yogis, finding their roads to discovery fuel her own. A new Crested Butte transplant, she is honored to join us here at Yoga for the Peaceful and is looking forward to both sharing and learning with the knowledgeable group of yogis here.
|Theresa S ~ A native of Chicago, Theresa spent ten years practicing at London’s leading studio. There she completed a two year, 500 hour teacher training diploma accredited by the British Wheel of Yoga and Yoga Alliance in 2016. Her family moved to Crested Butte for the incredible outdoor adventure lifestyle and tight-knit community. Her love of yoga is rooted in its transformative qualities and ability to create awareness for conscious living. She continually experiences profound effects on the mind, body and spirit from yoga practice. Theresa’s classes concentrate on breath and alignment and incorporate philosophy, anatomy, meditation, pranayama, mantra and restorative elements where appropriate. She brings a positive, playful energy and lightness to the practice. Her hope is to make yoga accessible to all and welcomes you on the journey. |Joe Wolff ~ Joe has been practicing yoga since 2001. He studied writing, Sanskrit, Yoga and Buddhist psychology at Naropa University; as well as writing and philosophy at San Francisco State University. He has been privileged to take intensives, trainings, and daily practice with several amazing Ashtanga Yoga Teachers: Tim Miller, Larry Schultz, Rolf Naujokat, Annie Pace and Richard Freeman. However he considers R. Sharath Jois to be his current teacher, and makes regular trips to Mysore, India to study with him. In 2015 he was blessed with Level 2 Authorization to teach from the Sri K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI) in Mysore, India. Joe has experienced first hand the power of Ashtanga Yoga to help overcome sickness, injury and mental afflictions and believes in the potential for Yoga to also help others. In the words of Pattabhi Jois, “Young man can practice. Old man can practice. Very old man can practice. Man who is sick, he can practice. Man who doesn’t have strength can practice. |Julie Reid ~ Julie discovered yoga in 2002 in college and was deeply drawn to the practice. The connection between the movement of the body, the breath and the Divine within us all has been very powerful in her life both on and off the mat. On 2011 she received her 200-hour yoga teaching certification through Inner Power Yoga. Julie’s most influential teacher has been Brenda Flemming, whose teachings have given her a priceless foundation and great respect for the practice of yoga. |Dina Ferrante ~ Dina has been teaching yoga for over 12 years. Students are drawn to her classes because of her gentle style and unique way of guiding them through the process of gently releasing tension that’s been held deep within their bodies. She encourages students to explore and deepen each posture and emphasizes careful attention to alignment and breath, giving students the opportunity to become deeply connected with all aspects of themselves. Prior to moving to Crested Butte in 2011, she owned a yoga studio and coffee shop in Southern New England and endured more than her share of office jobs that lead nowhere. When the hectic pace of the northeast lifestyle began to impact the quality of their lives, Dina and her family moved to Crested Butte so they could enjoy life in a healthier, simpler and more genuine way. She now spends her time teaching yoga and using this sacred practice as a foundation for her coaching practice. |Ashley Sargent ~ Ashley began practicing yoga in earnest in the mid-90’s. She started teaching in 2007, and completed her 200-RYT in 2009 with a Senior Iyengar instructor. Ashley has a strong background in Iyengar yoga, hot yoga, and the Kaiut method, and is completing her 500-RYT this year. She has also studied ayurvedic yoga and thai yoga massage, and is Reiki (level 3) certified. She draws on these different methods when teaching, depending on what students’ needs are in her classes.|
|Stacey Donaldson ~ Stacey is a dedicated Prana Vinyasa yoga practitioner, an artist and a mother of two young girls. Her love of yoga developed after having her second child. When she was able to fully dive into the practice and realize the amazing benefits it had on her health and lifestyle. In 2015 she completed Shiva Rea’s 200 hour yoga teacher training in Prana Vinyasa Flow with her teacher Monica Mesa, in Crested Butte. Stacey is a passionate and curious student of yoga and holistic healing. She finds inspiration for her classes by following the changes of the seasons and the flow of the natural world. Stacey is inspired by her family, friends, art, nature, music, big mountains, and the beach lifestyle she grew up in. |Jen Laggis ~ Jen is a Certified Iyengar yoga instructor. She has been a student of Iyengar yoga for nearly 20 years and has been teaching regularly since 1999. She is passionate about the subject of yoga and enjoys the process of self study through the yoga asanas. Jen’s main inspiration is drawn from Senior Iyengar teacher Nancy Stechert of Hotchkiss, CO. Jen teaches a weekly Iyengar class on Tuesdays 12:30 – 1:30 pm.|
