April showers bring… a NEW spring schedule! NEW classes! WORKSHOPS! KIRTAN! TEACHER TRAININGS & MORE!

Namaste, friends!

It’s a beautiful day here in Crested Butte and although the north end of the valley is still covered in snow, we can tell that Spring is on its way! The ski resort is open for one more week and soon town will quiet down, and it seems like everyone either goes to Moab or Baja for Spring Break! Those of us who stick around get to enjoy a slow, sweet pace of life as the valley slowly shakes off the last of winter’s embrace.

Our Spring schedule will begin on April 10th, and our Spring Break is April 15 – 23. Some of our classes will be cancelled as our teachers go on vacation, so please check out our website for the updates (we’ll also have an updated spring break schedule posted at the studio!) Class sizes are small and intimate, and it’s a great opportunity to try out a new class or teacher!

That being said, we are REALLY excited for our off-season offerings!

  • Switch up your spring/summer wardrobe at our FREE Women’s Clothing Swap this Friday, April 7th starting at 7 PM.
  • Mark your calendars for Yoga + Crystals with Lisa D’Arrigo (April 28)
  • A Prenatal Yoga Series with Kate Somrak (begins May 7)
  • Iyengar Yoga and Sound Healing workshops with Brenda Flemming and Brandy Wade (May 6 & 7)
  • Register for our NEW Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Carin Lockhart (May 19 – 21)
  • Join us for a LIVE MUSIC KIRTAN CONCERT with Katie Wise and Bhakti Explosion (May 20th)!

Don’t forget that you can save time at the front desk by registering for these classes & events online! Download the Mind Body app to do it right from your smart phone!

We are so grateful to all of the yogis and yoginis who continue to practice with us at Yoga For The Peaceful, who show up on their mats to breathe, meditate, move, cry, pray and listen inside for the whisperings of their own sweet hearts. Thank you for showing up, for bravely taking these teachings OFF the mat and out into the world, helping to spread love, light and joy! Wherever you are, we hope you have a wonderful month and we look forward to seeing you again along the path!

February Kula News

Let us focus on loving ourselves; letting the warm love light at the heart rise from within. Breathe into it and feel it rise like oxygen to a flame and flow down the arms and hands (extensions of the heart chakra) then place your sweet loving hands back on top of your own heart, and feel it beat. Love is strong. Love is real. Love is tender.

Let us focus on loving each other. Loving our mother earth. Loving strangers. Send your love out to the far corners of the world.
The entire world needs our love right now.

We are in a time of great change. These are uncertain times, and it’s easy to lose sight of love and let fear take hold. But we know this: that we are here, together. That we have more in common than “they” have led us to believe. That we are united by the collective pulse of our blood running through our veins. The beat of the heart. The collective drum beat. The rhythm of our hearts, beating together under a rainbow of skin.

Know this: you are not alone. When you feel fear creeping in, imagine the flame at the core of your being and take a deep breath. Imagine it growing brighter, stronger. This dancing flame unites us. We are stronger together. Love is stronger that fear.

And this is why we are drawn to yoga. To yoke, or unite. Because deep down, we already know this. That we are united. That we are ONE love. ONE heart. ONE blood. So let your body move. Do yoga. Remember your connection to the Divine. DANCE! Shake off the heaviness!

I hope you’ll join us this month for some classes (Monica is back on the schedule starting February 8th!), and please read on to find out more about our upcoming events such as TRANCE DANCE, The Desire Map Workshop, Kundalini Yoga Workshops and more.

And if all else fails, it’s Valentine’s Day (month). A little chocolate, wine and roses doesn’t hurt either.

Sending you so much love, peace and light

(the light in me bows to the light in you)

Passion for Peace, Love, & Healing! ❄

Dear Yoga Family,

I write you on the day we celebrate one of my greatest heroes, Martin Luther King, Jr. This is a man who inspired a movement that changed the course of our history and carved the idea of peaceful resolution, human rights for all, and LOVE as the greatest medicine for humankind. He has the same message as my guru, Neem Karoli Baba. These times call for the same message, the same passion, and the same if not more of a movement for peace to be carried in all of our hearts, minds, words, thoughts, and wisdom in action. I share this passion in my belief in yoga because I believe so strongly that the things we learn on this path can heal the wounds in our hearts and the divisiveness that lives in the levels of our being and relationships.

In my 30 + years on the path of yoga, I have SEEN the way it changes lives, saves lives, and brings lives TOGETHER. Furthermore, I believe in Prana Vinyasa Yoga, the lineage of Shiva Rea that is steeped in the authentic tradition of yoga, ayurveda, bhakti, and modern day somatics to be adapted for each individual to best fit their needs and lifestyle. I am so blessed to be witness to the miracles of healing and transformation that occur in people through their practice and study of this lineage and it is for this reason that I have made it my dharma path to bring it to you. Whether you join me in Crested Butte, Costa Rica, Colombia, or the cosmic space, it is my inmost pleasure and honor to spread these teachings which I believe can change the world, one breath, one sweet movement, at a time.

From my heart, surrounded in snow and the beauty of this precious human life, I send you my heart~
BELIEVE the dream of peace and unity can happen, despite any outer circumstances or appearances.

Your Dasi,

Welcome 2017!

Namaste! Happy New Year! And happy POWDER DAY! It’s been snowing hard in CB for the last 24 hours and we’ve got snow on the radar for the next week straight! We couldn’t ask for a better way to kick off 2017 than with powder days for DAYS!

Of course part of yoga is to find balance, so as a yoga girl I am constantly striving to find the perfect balance between work and play, which can be a challenge in a town like this! One of my New Years resolutions is to continue working on this balance, listening to the practical Virgo voice inside that says “there will be more powder days, today is a good day to focus” and balancing THAT by also listening to the voice that says “you can do this work tonight at 6 PM ~ GO SKI TODAY!” Part of this plan entails chairlift work meetings which is an exciting perk of living in a ski town, and I would say this is the truest definition of balancing work and play. With all of this early season snow, this is turning out to be a great winter for “professional” ski bums!

I was pleasantly surprised this morning that even with six inches on the pow cam, 10 people came to my class on a powder day! It seems New Years Resolutions are in full swing! After a busy holiday week, yoga is the perfect way to reset, breathe and release the stress of the holidays. If you’re still feeling wound up then please come to class (your mind, body and spirit will thank you!)

The first week of the New Year is a great time to find a quiet moment to set your goals and intentions for the new year ahead. If one of your new year’s resolutions is to get back into your yoga practice (or just do MORE yoga)!

Wherever you are, I hope that 2017 is already turning out to be an amazing year. 17 is my favorite number, so I have a really good feeling about this year! I am sending you all good vibes, and I hope this year brings you all the blessings you deserve!
In JOY ~ Jackie

Winter Solstice Celebration, AcroYoga Workshop, Holiday Class Schedule & More!

Happy Holidays and Winter Solstice!

To quote Andy Williams, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” ~ in every sense of the word!

The spirit of the holidays is all around us here in Crested Butte, from the fresh blanket of snow to the twinkling lights. Everyone you pass is smiling and exchanging seasons greetings. CB is a magical place at this time of year! Will you be joining us for the holidays?

It’s hard to believe that the “official” first day of winter is tomorrow! Here in CB it’s been winter for weeks already! We hope you’ll join us for the Winter Solstice Yoga Mala tomorrow (Wednesday) from 9 – 11 AM. Celebrate the changing of the seasons and the return of the light after the shortest day of year by doing 54 rounds of sun salutations, followed by restorative yoga and a guided Yoga Nidra relaxation. We’ll have chai and goodies for after class too!

As a reminder, Yoga For The Peaceful will be closed on Christmas Day, Sunday December 25th. We only close one day per year to celebrate this sacred day with friends and family! Classes will resume as scheduled on December 26th.

We are sending you love and light and hoping that these last few weeks of 2016 are blessed with laughter, happiness and joy.

Happy Holidays!

Jackie & Monica
